Running competitions isn’t high on my to-do list, but I heard about KingSumo on Smart Passive Income (yet another tip I’ve picked up there!) and thought I’d give it a go.
What is King Sumo and how does it work?
King Sumo is a free tool that enables you to run viral competitions.
To enter, contestants have to sign up to your email list and they can get bonus entries by carrying out other tasks that you set, such as subscribing to your social media channels.
For example:
5 bonus entries for watching a YouTube video
2 bonus entries for following me on Instagram
2 bonus entries for liking my Facebook page
You enter a few details to get started and can choose the channels you want contestants to share your competition on. This is a great (FREE) opportunity to grow your email list and social media followers, with relatively little effort required.
But does it actually work?
In short – yes!
I ran a competition for a week, giving away the ultimate newborn bundle (a set of Tiny Chipmunk 100% bamboo muslin swaddle blankets and a Tiny Chipmunk personalised bamboo hooded towel) and received 71 entries, with very little promotion.
I’m sure a bigger prize and a bit more planning on my part (perhaps a longer window too) could have gained a lot more entries and visibility.
As always, I’d like to know what you think. Have you tried KingSumo (or any similar tools) and how did you get on? Do share in the comments.
