Vicki Weinberg:

Hello and welcome to another Amazon made Easy podcast episode. It's so nice to have you here. Little reminder, if you are listening to this episode, you can actually watch this episode. I am recording video.

This will be on YouTube so you can watch this episode if you, if that's how you like to get your podcasts. So we are well into quarter two now, so I'm recording this episode at the beginning of April. By the time you listen to it will be the end of April.

So we're what, almost a whole month into a quarter to. And what can I say?

mazon is never boring because:

And then I'm going to talk to you about a few coming up later this year as well, or my predictions, what I think is going to come up later this year for you to think about and keep an eye on as well. But of course do know that anything that that does happen, I will be keeping you, I will be keeping you up to date.

So if there are any further Amazon changes, I will do my best to let you know before they happen.

n regards to Amazon so far in:

So Amazon island launched in March and if you are already selling your products on Amazon in Europe or you're thinking about selling on Europe, this could be a great opportunity to reach a new audience without lots of extra work.

So FBA fees, if you decide to send stock into Amazon Ireland, are going to be lower for the first 12 months and you can store your FBA stock in Ireland and fulfill orders across the other EU marketplaces. Now this might mean you need to apply for VAT in Ireland to actually hold stock there.

Of course you can also sell in Ireland and fulfill orders yourself provided you know, you've got the logistics in place to do that. But it's really, really good because it now means that customers in Ireland can get one day delivery which they didn't have before.

There's a fulfillment centre in Dublin which means that Amazon customers in Ireland Canal buy on Amazon and get their water delivered next day, which is brilliant. What and what else do you need to know? Well, as I say, this is a really good opportunity for you to expand.

It's a brand new marketplace, competition will be a lot lower. Of course that's going to change. A lot of people I think are going to see the Island's a good opportunity and get on there themselves.

But I definitely think this is a good opportunity for you.

I think if you're on there early it's a really good chance to establish yourself, get some fest, get some sales before you know, it gets really crowded.

Yeah, so that is my first of:

My second change I want to talk to you about is what's called the European expansion settings which sounds a little bit confusing.

What this basically means is I've started to see that Amazon is automatically listing eligible products in other European marketplaces unless you are opting out.

So I've seen this with a few of my clients and it can catch people out because Amazon are sending emails out about this but I don't believe everyone's getting them. I've seen it on a few people's like have a central home screen. So I've logged in, but again not everybody's.

But when I've been going in to check like on behalf of clients, I have been going in and going, oh you've got listings in France that shouldn't be the case because what Amazon are doing is, you know, just, just going in and duplicating them. Of course this can increase your reach. Maybe you want to sell in all these other marketplaces.

So for you this is a really good thing possibly, but you have to make sure that you're set up for it. So first of all you need to make sure your listings are, you know, translated into the relevant languages.

So for countries on English speaking then you want to have your listings in the native language. Amazon aren't doing that. I believe they're just adding them in English, which isn't ideal.

You also need to make sure you're ready to sell in these marketplaces.

So if you are fulfilling your own orders and Amazon has gone and added your products into Germany, are you set up to fulfill orders in Germany yourself? Because if you're not, you'll want to close those down.

Also, if you are using fba, then there's a chance that Amazon will use their European fulfillment network to send your UK FBA stock to customers in another marketplace. That, for you, obviously can get quite expensive. So have a look at whether this is something that applies to you.

Have a look and see if your listings are suddenly appearing in lots of other marketplaces. And if they are, think about whether that's something that you want.

Because obviously this is great for Amazon because, you know, the more products listed, I guess ultimately the more they sell, the more money they make. But think about whether it's good for you. If you. If it. If it isn't good for you and it isn't what you want, you can opt out.

If you can't see the option to opt out, you can close down those marketplaces by putting them in holiday mode, or you can just close down or delete all of those listings. But do go and check your European marketplaces and see if there are any listings that popped up you weren't expecting.

And then the third new thing so far this year is the Amazon Global Logistics rollout. This is another update that I think could hopefully be a positive one.

So what this basically means is that it gives you more options to get your stock into Amazon fulfillment centers, including, you can now ship from a manufacturer in China. So actually, unless your products are made in China, this probably isn't super relevant.

But if they are, and a lot of people's products are, you can ship directly from China into an Amazon Fulfillment center, either in the UK or the us. Now, whether you want to do this is another thing. Personally, I never liked having all of my stock held in an Amazon Fulfillment Centre.

But then you don't have to. You could potentially split some of your stock straight into Amazon and some wherever else you want it.

However, if you're listening to this in the UK and you're looking to sell in the us, this could be possibly be a good opportunity for you. Well, depending on tariffs, I guess.

But it does make it simpler for you to send your products from the manufacturer directly into the Amazon Fulfillment Centre, as opposed to either sending it from your manufacturer to the UK over to the us which is also a lot more shipping or sending it to somewhere in the US then have it sent onto Amazon. This is something you can now look into and if you are interested in Amazon Global Logistics, Amazon are offering free webinars on this.

Maybe you've got some emails on it and I think a lot of us have so they're worth listening out for. I went to one of them a few weeks ago, it was quite interesting.

It was a lot about how to get, how to register and how to get set up as well as talking about what the program is, how much it costs, etc. So try and get one of those if you're interested.

And I'm now going to talk a little bit more about some of the things to look out for for the rest of this year or at least in the next couple of months. First thing is Amazon Prime Day. So this is likely to run for around four days and it's usually mid July.

I think last year it was the 16th and 17th from memory, so it's probably going to be something similar. And Amazon always expects a big increase in traffic over this time.

So this is your very, very, very early warning if you want to participate in Prime Day. Keep an eye out for more announcements that you know.

Importantly, make sure your listings are ready, make sure you've got stock in place, you've got where are we now? You've probably got at least two months notice, so hopefully this is long enough for you to get prepared.

Also, I've been seeing a lot about brand protection and Amazon have announced a renewed commitment to protecting brands against counterfeit products. So if you're brand registered you should see even more tools and support being available later this year.

This is to stop people counterfeiting your products. This is to stop people hijacking your listings. This is to stop unauthorized sellers selling your products.

I know all of these things can and have been issues for Amazon sellers and I'm really interested to see exactly what Amazon going to do to prevent this. But they are talking about making some changes later this year and the other thing to keep an eye out for is FBA inbound and storage fees.

The fee structure changed fairly recently. It's likely to change again.

Always worth double checking your figures fairly regularly to make sure that these changes haven't changed how profitable you're being on Amazon.

So if the last time the storage fees changed you haven't had a look at your margins, maybe have a look now just so you're prepared if any other changes come up, just in case you need to tweak your pricing or anything else to make sure that Amazon is still profitable for you.

Some of these changes, they can look quite small, they're not massive increases, but when they actually start adding up, actually they can have a big impact. So make sure you're really thinking about those. So there's a lot already, isn't there? And we're only a few months into the year.

If you ever want help making sense of any of this, let me know. You can always book in a call with me. So vickyweinberg.com and we can have a chat through what these actually mean to you.

You can always email me vickykyweinberg.com I'm deliberately kept this episode quite short because we've gone a bit longer the last couple of weeks and if there's anything you want me to talk about in future episodes.

So if you want me to go into more detail with any of the topics I've covered today or in the last few episodes, or anything at all, you've got a question you'd like me to dive into. So happy to take your suggestions on what we talk about here. Obviously want these episodes to give you as much value as possible and do get in touch.

Have a lovely rest of the week. I will be back with my regular interview on Friday and another one of these Amazon Made Easy bonuses next Tuesday.
